Merchandise Planning Manager

Our Merchandise Planning Manager has the critical role of ensuring the right merchandise is on site at the right time, in the right quantities and at the right price. You will be the champion of sound merchandise management and category management disciplines. You will challenge current merchandise management process and help build tools that enable this fast moving online retailer to stay nimble. You will ensure inventory productivity is maintained through accurate and concise reporting and communicating valuable insights to the business. You will also relish the opportunity to grow, nurture and develop a small team.

The key responsibilities are:

  • Preseason forecasting – Working with the General Manager of Merchandise and the buying team to set category plans by Sub Category by month.
  • In season management – Continually monitoring category performance and suggest strategies to keep sales, inventory, margin and turn on plan.
  • Post season analysis – Analyse the prior season’s performance and communicate wins and learnings to the buying team to help prepare for future seasons.
  • Prepare and communicate the overall merchandise financial plan to the wider business.
  • Critical decision making capability- sales opportunities, markdowns, receipts, OTB, promotions, supplier analysis, RTV and rebate suggestions.
  • Global Planning Shaping – Top line report consolidation of global regions along with suggested action points to improve the global inventory position.

If you want in, you're going to need an energetic attitude and you will have at least 5 years’ experience in a planning role under your belt. Ideally this experience will be with a national fashion retailer, extra points if you have worked for an online retailer previously. You will be a great communicator with the ability to engage people at all different levels within, and external to, the business. You love analysing data and using this to identify trends, potential risks and opportunities. You are at one with Excel and basic math’s. You will also ideally have previous experience with using merchandise planning tools. You are a calm cookie when working under pressure and you are confident to make a quick decision when it's needed (and in this environment, it will be needed often!). You understand the youth fashion & beach lifestyle marketplace (ours and our competitors!).
